Described as the "Most modern, most technologically advanced, most future-proofed maritime campus of all 230 such colleges anywhere in the world"
Glasgow City College Riverside Campus achieves an unparalleled level of connectivity between its activity and learning spaces and the dramatic feature atrium space through the application of the high performance, seamless Deko FG glazed screen range.
Interpreting the outline design brief prepared by architects Michael Laird and Reiach and Hall, Indeglas were appointed by main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine to design, supply and install the internal glazed screens throughout the buildings ensuring the creation of high performance acoustic screens to compliment the teaching and study areas with uncompromised connectivity to circulation and atrium space. Light is directed into the heart of the building whilst executive and seminar areas immediately over the atrium space function without compromise due to the exceptional acoustic performance of Deko FG screens.
Views form the upper levels into the atrium are described by staff and students as ‘simply breathtaking and inspiring’. An advanced interface design between floor plate cladding and the glazed screen supporting framework contributed to the minimalist detailing offering such clear unrestricted views.
