Three award winning projects celebrated at the Scottish Design Awards 2021 add to a growing portfolio of success for the team at Indeglas as it reviews the contribution it has made with its valued construction clients and design team partners to the creation of building interiors at the cutting edge of education, healthcare and matters of law.
When Forth Valley College, Falkirk Campus won an award for Architecture - Educational Building category, there were multiple reasons for the team at Indeglas to celebrate.
With many of its apprentice joiners having trained at the former college building, their contribution to the exciting new building represented an unprecedented opportunity. Equally, the relevance of creating the new building was brought into further focus when Indeglas was able to demonstrate that its construction team included three generations of apprentices all working together to create the environment which would support the training of future generations of joinery craftsmen.
Meeting the demands of the project brief for the internal glass screens required an innovative approach. This led to the creation of a bespoke hybrid of two existing systems where clear glass, decorated glass panels, back-painted glass and solid drywall panels integrate with only a pencil line joint creating perfectly smooth transitions which reflect and bounce natural light and uplifting colours throughout the building.
The project provided another opportunity for Indeglas to work with valued client Balfour Beatty, Reiach and Hall, concept architect, and the team at Keppie Design with whom Indeglas worked closely to develop the engineered solutions for the internal glass screens.
Inverness Justice Centre won an award within the Architecture - Public Building category Designed by Reiach and Hall, Architects, and built by Robertson Construction Northern, the team at Indeglas rose to the challenges set by the brief to deliver and install a varied range of internal glazed screens which deliver acoustic and fire rated performances while transferring daylight and providing connectivity between public spaces, consultancy and meeting spaces.

Elgin & Appin Wards, Stobhill Mental Health Estate won an award within the category, Architecture – Health Building.
Pioneering hospital ward and clinical staff areas designed by Keppie Design architects and built by contractor BAM Construction, this project also highlights the growing contribution Indeglas is making to healthcare projects.
By adopting its unique design methodology Indeglas delivers internal glass systems which not only meet the criteria required by the project design brief but also consider logistics, construction methodology and sustainability providing the principle construction team with confidence, trust and firm partnership.
Finally, we want to congratulate and give special mention to Moxon, for Practice of the Year award. Having had the opportunity to work closely with the Moxon team on the Cairngorms National Park Headquarters in Granton Upon Spey in 2019, this award is further well deserved recognition of its unique creativity, commitment to human centred design and the delivery of design solutions which respect and enhance the uniqueness of each project location.
